The award ceremony that was billed to take place in Accra, Ghana is in recognition of the pivotal role of government in promoting development and to give honour to some of the public services that have excelled in the four key performance indicators : Mandate focus, Service delivery, Budget and actual returns, Management and Institutional reforms.
The release signed by the Editor-in Chief/CEO of the magazine, Mr Ayo Simpson Ilesanmi said CAYLE Associate, a research consultant firm was commissioned to conduct research that examined 100 government agencies across board which was pruned down to 50 at first instance. The 10 that were chosen are adjudged the best government agencies that have performed credibly in Nigeria in terms of developmental focus.
According to him, the event was scheduled to hold in Ghana to help develop the integration of the continent. “By bringing our prized agencies to rub minds with their counterparts in Ghana, African Development Magazine intends to take the event round the continent” he said
Mr ilesanmi added that because the focus of the title is Africa, the event is packaged as a knowledge and fun show, a lecture titled “The Role of Good Governance in Economic Development in Africa’ will hold and will also feature mini exhibition for participating agencies to display their knowledge and promote their agencies.
He said the magazine is set to tell the African story from the African perspective to give the continent the necessary push to excel and reach her potential through the engagement of the best that the continent can present to the world. “ it’s our focus to project Africa as the new continent that must be taken serious. It’s a clarion call to all black people in the continent and diaspora to close ranks and develop the continent for the good of the people”
He observed that the concern of the advisory board and management of the magazine is to see the dawn that Africa’s time has come and “ all we need to do is seize the initiative and position the continent for greatness” he said
The vice president of Ghana , Mr John Dramani Mahama is expected at the event as the special guest of honour.
