Those were a part of his parting words at a dinner to mark his departure as he prepares to round off his mission in Nigeria, having served as his country’s ambassador in Nigeria for four years.
“Nigeria is a big school where diplomats learn a lot. Nigerian people will build this country to a strong standard in a few years to come and I would be glad to see this happening and will personally monitor it wherever I may be, especially the relations between our two countries.”
Al-Asousi said Kuwait and Nigeria friendship is very strong now and after four years in Nigeria he believes it is time to say good bye.
Relating his experience with guests at the occasion he said he had gained a lot having stayed in Nigeria.
“When I first came to this country, they told me that I was going to face a lot of difficulties but sincerely since I came, the officials opened their hands to receive and embrace me. This kind of good gesture cannot be found everywhere in the world. Nigeria is good with great people because the Nigeria I knew during my first visit in 1993 was different from what it is today and I believe this country will be different from what it is now in the next five years”, he said.
“As dean of Arab diplomats, the Iraqi ambassador is taking over from me. We have known each other for the last four years. We came, had very good relations and when we part we are going to remember our moments together, and I wish everyone to continue this relationship”, he added.
