KOICA alumni assist pregnant women, pupils in Abuja villages

The Country Director of Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA), Mrs. Sook Hyun Park and the executive members of KOICA Alumni Association in Nigeria (KAAN), have distributed 100 mosquito nets to pregnant women in Kubwa General Hospital, Abuja.
KOICA/KAAN also donated writing materials and school bags to 2,900 pupils in two government schools at Bwari Area Council of Abuja.
The gesture, according to the KAAN president, Barrister Fidelis Ugbo, was part of the association’s yearly Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aimed at promoting and endearing KAAN to its operational environment.
He said the choice of the donated items was informed by the prevalence of malaria epidemic in the country, as well as helping pupils and parents in this economically hard times.
Head of Nursing at Kubwa General Hospital, Mrs. Catherine Okolo, who thanked the association, lectured the beneficiaries on how to effectively use the treated mosquito nets to prevent further spread of the epidemic.
At Dutse Sagwari Primary School in Bwari, the head teacher, Mrs. Hajara Abel, led the visiting team into classrooms, where each of the children received the pack of the items.
Also at the Science Primary School, Bwari, the head teacher, Mrs. Gloria Abu, expressed satisfaction with the gesture and explained how it would go a long way in motivating the pupils to their studies.
The new KOICA Country Director, Mrs. Sook Hyun Park, said KOICA through the alumni would continue to support Nigerians by visiting more community schools, hospitals, IDP camps and other critical areas.
