Obasanjo made the allegation in addition to several others in a letter he wrote to the president in December.
President Jonathan directed the NHRC to investigate Obasanjo’s allegation that 1000 eminent Nigerians are on a list targeted for elimination in the build up to the 2015 elections by the said snippers.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission Prof. Bem Angwe told Daily Trust yesterday in Abuja that it is yet to interact with Obasanjo based on the petition. He said President Jonathan himself and the former president may be invited adding that the commission would follow its rules and procedure.
Angwe, however, added that no date has been fixed for the hearing of the petition sent by Jonathan through the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation.
Obasanjo also alleged in the said letter that Nigeria is bleeding under Jonathan; that the government is mired in corruption; that the President is vicariously responsible for the crisis in the ruling party; that Mr. Jonathan had assured him he would not stand for re-election but that it is apparent now that he does not intend to honour that promise.
