Coalition of All Progressive Congress (APC), an APC youth pressure group in Nasarawa local government of Kano state has called on the State governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to wade into the crisis surounding the screening of a caretaker nominee for chairmanship position for Nassarawa Local Government area of the state.
The group made the call in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano and signed by its spokesperson comrade Zubairu Maisamari.
The statement alleged that there were a lot of irregularities in the action of the members of the state Assembly in the conduct of the screening exercise, which violated the provision of some sections of Kano State Local Government Amendment Law, 2017.
The statement highlighted that ‘it has been part of the criteria for any nominee to be a civil servant of not less than grade level 13 with years of working experience. However, the said nominee from Nassarawa local government was until his nomination and appointment as Bunkure local government Caretaker chairman was a staff of Nassarawa local government on grade level 12, which has contradicted the provision of the 2017 Law as amended.
“However, it is pertinent for governor Ganduje to take urgent step to remedy the mistake made by the state Assembly in the screening and approval of this person in question to avoid exposing the administration to ridicule; considering its popularity among the electorates not only in Kano but also in the entire country,” conclude the statement.
