Installation of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) within and around the Malam Aminu Kanu International Airport, (MAKIA) Kano is on the verge of completion, the airport manager, Alhaji Bello Giade has promised.
He said when the CCTV installation is completed, the equipment would boost safety and security at the premier airport in the country.
Giade who is the North West Regional Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) told newsmen that the project would cover the whole of the terminal buildings, runway, car park, access gates, among others.
He said the CCTV installation was imperative to guarantee adequate security for airlines especially the foreign ones to fly into the airport.
Giade however noted that security has improved security tremendously while commending the state and federal governments for embarking on the CCTV installation.
"The state government intervened and came to our aid, because Emirates want to come back to Kano and the state government is very interested in bringing the airline back to operate. The CCTV will cover the land, air side and terminal,” the manager said.
He also disclosed that the new terminal in Kano has reached 70 % completion stage, saying workers are presently on site.
On the recently introduced cashless policy by FAAN, the airport manager said it would improve the revenue base of the organization.
