Kafanchan, the headquarters of Jema’a LGA of Kaduna State was agog as the Southern part of the state held its maiden festival tagged: “Southern Kaduna Festival”.

The festival featured cultural displays, archery, football tournament, marathon, fashion show, beauty pageant, wrestling, musical concert, and awards were given to prominent sons and daughters.

Declaring the festival open, Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, stated that the event was an opportunity for the people of Southern Kaduna to tell their story.

She said, “The festival is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Southern Kaduna and promote inter-cultural exchange among the people of the area. In a world that often emphasises our differences, events such as this provide us with an invaluable opportunity to recognise and celebrate our shared humanity.”

Represented by the Commissioner and Administrator of Kafanchan Municipal Authority, Mrs Phoebe Yayi, the deputy governor called on the people of the area to embrace the spirit of unity and respect one another.

She further said, “Let us recognise that diversity is not a challenge but strength; a source of enrichment that has the power to propel us towards a brighter future.”

Earlier, Chairman of the Southern Kaduna Leadership Council (SKLC), Mr Ishaya Dare Akau, said the festival was a big step towards uniting the people of Southern Kaduna.
