Speaking at a press conference yesterday, CAN chairman in the area, Rev. Jesse Mallam, said the relocation of the Eid-ground which is located at a Christian dominated area will curb suspicion and check future crises.
“The Eid-ground should be relocated to an area that is not controversial, because miscreants can still go and pull down the fence and still accuse Christians of doing it,” Rev. Jesse said.
He said: “The market should be relocated to a neutral ground, where miscreants will not take advantage of its position to enrich themselves through instigation of crises. I am saying this because the market has served as a vehicle for unleashing terror on the economy of Christians. CAN also questions the action of Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu, for posting out the Kachia DPO when an inquiry committee had been set up by the state government. The commissioner of police should as a matter of technicality cancel the posting.”
He added that for peace to reign in Kachia, “Fulanis should stop attacking Christians and the quest for creation of chiefdom should stop because there cannot be two kings in one city.”
