Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC) has issued certificates of return to local government councils chairmanship and councillorship candidates that won in last Saturday’s local government area (LGA) elections.
The 27 chairmen and 287 councilors that received their certificates of return won on the platform of the ruling APC.
Presenting the certificates of return to the winners, yesterday, Chairman of JISIEC, Ahmad Sani Gumel, said it was on record that the elections conducted by his commission received the highest rating ever from the independent observers.
Gumel said the independent observers were given freedom to carry out their mission and assess how the commission fared.
The councils election was marred by voter apathy as most of the voting centers visited by Daily Trust across some LGAs revealed that only few voters turned out for the election.
