Lema Jibrillu who made this known at the national headquarters of JNI while kick starting the prayer session in Kaduna, said that  Muslims believed that  trials and tribulations were inevitable in life and falling  ill was one of them. The Dan Iya who was represented at the occasion, also said every being was likely to fall sick and the president was not an exception.

According to him, members of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam Aid Group had decided to come together and pray for the quick recovery of President Yar’adua, adding that as Muslims, it was incumbent on them to do so irrespective of where he came from and the party that he belonged to.

Shedding light on the prayer session, Alhaji Muhammadu Ali Kaita, the secretary of the JNI Aid Group, said that the federal government did not sponsor the event. “I am assuring you that there is no agency of government that is involved. The leaders of the group decided on their own to undertake this assignment for the sake of God,” he added.

On the involvement of Emir of Katsina in the event, Ali Kaita who is also Shettiman Katsina, said that it had nothing to do with Yar’adua coming from Katsina State. According to him, the emir is the national president of Aid Group, adding that his late grandfather was one of the founders of the group in1975.

“His father inherited the presidency of the group from his grandfather and the present emir also inherited it from his father”, he added. The Shettiman Katsina further said that even if the president was not a Muslim, the Aid Group would have prayed for him if he became sick as   long as he was fair-minded.

Earlier, some members of group recited the complete 60 chapters of the Holy Qur’an, praying for the quick recovery of the president. Those who graced the occasion included Malam Ibrahim Zakariyya, the group’s chairman of Kaduna State chapter, Dr Muhammad Gidado Halilu, the national treasurer and Hajiya Aishatu Aliko Mohammed, the national women leader.
