Isoko ethnic nationality has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint the next minister from Delta State from the community in the interest of equity, fairness and inclusiveness.
In a statement the Isoko Equity Group, said the community could only boast of few projects executed by the federal government.
The group described the situation as a gross injustice to an area that has helped to sustain the nation’s economy through its oil since 1958.
It also said the area had for long suffered from the impact of oil production through degradation of the ecosystems and numerous health challenges.
“Since the advent of democracy in 1999, all other ethnic groups in Delta State have had ministers, some several times over but no Isoko man has been appointed to that position.
