The host state emerged victorious in both the male and female categories beating Delta State U-14 boys team and the Ogun State U-17 girls to take home the two giant trophies that were at stake.

Speaking to Feverpitch yesterday, the TM of Invincible Angles rated the competition very high but lamented that officiating was nothing to write home about.

He alleged that the referees did everything possible to ensure that the home teams ran away with the trophies as he said both Delta and Ogun State were clearly robbed in the final matches.

Chur advised that in future competitions, YSFON should endeavour to bring referees from the neighbouring states to officiate as he said home referees would always be biased in their officiating.

“The standard of the competition was really high but the officiating was biased. The referees were biased because they did everything to make the home teams win the trophies.

“In future, YSFON should invite referees from the neighbouring states to come and officiate as this would make room for fair officiating. I was not happy with the way the two finals were officiated”, he stated.

He, however, commended the president of the Youth Sports Federation, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna for doing his best to revive the activities of the federation.

Chur who is a member of the Directorate of Competition and Programme of the federation said the president is taking his time to study the situation on ground even as he has continued to work towards the actualization of his seven points agenda.

The physically challenged football administrator expressed hope that under the present leadership of YSFON, sports at the grassroots would be revived.

“Our president being a seasoned sports administrator is doing his best to revive sports at the grassroots. This is why the recently held tourney in Uyo did not witness too many hitches.

“He has a purpose for coming on board and if given the necessary support, he would surely bring back to life sports at the grassroots”.
