Daily Trust observed trucks loaded with maize, millet, and guinea corn parked around the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu Sports Complex, while some were noticed heading towards the institution’s premises.
Our correspondent gathered that the grains are part of the first batch of food stuff assistance intended for victims of insurgency in the state.
When contacted, chairman, grains distribution committee, Alhaji Mohammed Umar, who is also secretary of Waziri Ibrahim Foundation, confirmed that the grain distribution was put under their foundation being a non governmental organisation, for direct and equitable distribution to victims.
“We would ensure equitable distribution of the foodstuffs irrespective of sentiment or party affiliation,” he said.
He said that the committee is expecting 195 trucks before tomorrow to be distributed to 178 political wards, adding that the committee would commence its duty in Damaturu after the flag off and extend to other electoral wards across the 17 local government areas of the state.
“Each electoral ward will get a trailer load of assorted grains,” he added.
