The instability of the capital market is impacting negatively on investors’ confidence, the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PEARL Awards Nigeria, Mr. Tayo Orekoya has said.
Orekoya disclosed this yesterday while updating the media on activities towards rewarding deserving quoted companies for outstanding performances at the 2019 PEARL Awards Nite scheduled to hold on November 24, 2019 at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
According to him, losses sustained in terms of value depletion by stakeholders in the equities market of the stock exchange this year alone is mind boggling. He therefore implored major stakeholders including government, regulatory authorities and market players to pointedly address the challenges occasioning the dwindling performance of the stock exchange.
“The stakeholders of our capital market in collaboration with the government must continue to strive towards market stability, sustainability and growth. Regulators in particular must intensify efforts towards utilizing innovative approaches towards engendering restoration of investors’ confidence in the market and deepening the market for enhanced development,”
“As partner in progress with capital market regulators, our focus is to continue to promote healthy competitiveness, reward outstanding performance, thereby enhancing vibrancy of the market,” he said.
