The Adamawa State government has renewed Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s pledge to continue to pursue legacy infrastructure projects and redouble his efforts to ensure their completion before the end of his tenure.
The Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Communications, George Kushi, spoke on Saturday, at a media parley.
He expressed the government’s commitment to delivering electoral promises and added that the administration had received praise for its achievements in infrastructure, social services, and human development.
“The government has not only paid attention to infrastructure but has looked into the case from a humanitarian angle especially as it affects the senior citizens that have served the state over many years.

“The plight of retirees and their pensions are being looked into and appropriate measures are being taken to address the anomalies that have compounded the issue over twelve years before this government was voted in. Gratuities, the main reason that has deterred retirement in the civil service due to the fear of what to fall back to immediately after returning, is being addressed as huge sums have been set aside to settle retirees in batches more than ever before. To this effect, over three billion naira has been dedicated.
“On the ecological front, the felling of trees for firewood and the smuggling of food and building materials from the state are receiving due attention. Adamawa, a major rice producer has been denied its rightful position because bulk purchasers take the produce outside to be processed and receive credit for being the producers,” Kushi said.
