It has been previously believed that the much criticized Secretary General would not seek re-election but he has since come out to debunk this.
“I did not at any time consider stepping down. I am in the race to retain my position as the Secretary General as there is still so much to do for ANA,” he said.
Information available to Sunday Trust shows that most members of the much maligned 2009/2011 EXCO are angling to reclaim their offices despite what is generally considered their non-performance.
Their fates will be decided by the Congress of the Association, which will hold during the annual convention of the association coming up this week in Abuja during which elections into the various offices will be held.
The convention opens on Wednesday November 30th at the Reiz Continental Hotel, Abuja. Other events for the four day gathering will be held at the Cyprian Ekwensi Cultural Centre.
The theme for the convention, the 30th in the association’s history, is “Home Coming: African Literature and Human Development” with the keynote address to be delivered by Prof. Tanure Ojaide while Senator Bukola Saraki is expected to chair the occasion.
