President of the Para-Soccer Federation of Nigeria, Alhaji Misbahu Lawan Didi has expressed satisfaction with the high standard of performance that has been witnessed so far at the ongoing National Para-Soccer Tournament in Abuja.

Fourteen states of the federation are currently competing for honours in the 3rd edition of the National Para-Soccer Tournament which is part of activities lined up to celebrate the World Polio Day.

Speaking on Tuesday, Lawan Didi said he was happy because every year has come with tremendous improvement in the standard of play and organisation of the tournament.

He also said the federation along with its partners have provided enabling environment for the teams taking part in the tournament to thrive.

Didi added that the objective of the tournament which is to celebrate the present status of Nigeria as a polio free country is being met adequately.

The president who doubles as National Chairman of Polio Survivors in Nigeria said the performance of the athletes have shown clearly that there is always ability in disability.

“I am very pleased with what I have seen so far. It is my fervent hope that this will continue till the end of this tournament.

“The standard of play is really high as each participating team is giving a good account of itself. As a matter of fact, fans who have been watching the  matches are enjoying themselves.

“I want to thank our partners, particularly the National Sports Commission and Rotary International for giving us all the necessary support,” he said.

Didi therefore charged the participating teams to maintain their orderly conduct as he said the federation will continue to give priority to the welfare of the athletes and the officials for a hitch-free tournament.
