Youths in Owerri, the Imo State capital, have staged a rally urging people to go and collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
They lamented the sheer number of abandoned PVCs at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Owerri, which, according to them, will affect future political development of the state.
The youths, who staged the rally under the auspices of Imo Renewal Youth Movement, took their case to a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tony Nwulu, urging him to rescue the situation.
Their coordinator, Mr. Kingsley Chukwu, said they would no longer sit back and allow “old politicians to ruin the state”.
Nwulu, who presents Oshodi/Isolo federal constituency of Lagos State, is an indigene of Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State and is the sponsor of the “Not Too Young to Run” bill which seeks to reduce the age limit in contesting elections in Nigeria.
Nwulu, who appreciated the efforts of the youth, urged them to continue in that same spirit and ensure that all youths are in possession of their PVCs.
