The President of ADF, Prof Uzodinma Nwala, who spoke ahead of the event in Abuja, challenged the Igbo to unite to avoid being supplanted in the nation’s polity and said the outcome of the 2015 general elections should not be used to marginalize some ethnic nationalities.
“Nigeria is a multi-ethnic federation, and can only survive if there is justice. If there is equal political participation, such should apply for position sharing. The positions are not for political parties but for Nigeria’s ethnic nationalities. The role of any ruling party is to ensure equity in the sharing of these positions.”
He said the Igbo, by voting for the PDP, had not lost their rights to political participation, and described the problem facing the Igbo nation as an accident of history. He said the role Igbos played during the colonial era pitched them against the Europeans, which later played out during the Biafran civil war, and expressed the determination of ADF to champion the rebirth of the Igbo nation.
