About 500 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Kushari community located on the outskirts of Maiduguri have received relief materials.
According to a statement issued in Abuja by the Communications Officer, Presidential Initiative for North East (PINE), Odutayo Oluseyi, the initiative which was of Tally International Nigeria Limited, was supported by the committee.
He said the programme was targeted at women and children who fled the Boko haram insurgency in some states of the North-east and settled in Kushari, Maiduguri.
The secretary to the Presidential Initiative for the North-east, Umar Gulani, was quoted to have expressed the federal government’s commitment to ensuring that interventions to the area are coordinated and target driven.
He assured all the IDPs of government’s sympathy to their plight, adding that efforts are on to ensure their resettlement and quick economic redevelopment of the region.
The National Coordinator of Tally International Nigeria Limited, Mrs Nancy Talatu Harry lauded the federal government and the military for giving them a platform through which they could assist the displaced persons. She assured of more interventions.
