The Ibrahim Khalil Academy, Kano, has graduated a total of 700 students trained on information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The graduands comprised of 420 males and 280 females respectively.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Director of the academy, Malam Saddam Muhammad Al-Kanawy, said this was the third time the acdemy graduated students this year.

“The students studied sciences, mass literacy and different trades ranging from ICT, poultry, fishery and fashion design among others,” he pointed out.

Al-kanawy said since its inception about five years ago, the academy had trained over 20,000 students from Kano and other neighbouring states free of charge.

In his address, the proprietor of the academy, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, explained that the iniative was to mentor younger generation on humantarian services.

“The students were trained free of charge so as to inculcate in them the spirit of philanthropy. If they believe that someone has helped them, they would be able to help others wherever and whenever they have the means.

“We brought them from different places to enhance brotherhood and friendship through interaction with one another,” he said.

The gesture would also encourage the beneficiaries to to be self-reliant and be useful to the society.

Sheik Khalil further stated that he made it free of charge because knowledge is the best legacy than one could bequeath to the society, so he decided to make it easier for them to acquire knowledge especially that of computer which is extremely important in today’s world.

One of the graduating students, Muslim Abubakar, expressed gratitude to the proprietor for the gesture.

“Prior to the training, I knew nothing about computer, but now I can operate it very well. I can work with MS excel and other MS office stuff. I am grateful to Malam Ibrahim Khalil and may Allah reward him abundantly,” he said.
