The 19th edition of IBB Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship will tee off on Thursday at the IBB Golf club, organisers have disclosed.
Addressing a Press Conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the Lady Captain of IBB Golf Club, Lami Ahmed said the event will hold from 9th to 12th February, 2015.
She disclosed that 160 ladies have registered to play in the championship, adding that they will arrive on Thursday.
"We have players that have registered from 22 clubs in the country and others from three African countries namely; Uganda, Ghana and Zimbabwe", she said.
Lady Captain Ahmed who said the championship was a world ranking one, disclosed that it would be strictly a gross tournament.
Speaking on the categories to be competed in, she said "we have categories 1 which is Handicap 0-28 and category 2; Handicap 29-36 for the ladies."
"We also have the veteran ladies which covers all the categories according to age. For the men, we have four categories and these different categories are going to compete among themselves for the three days."
The Chairperson of the championship’s Local Organising Committee (LOC), Past Lady Captain Nana Abubakar said 45 ladies will qualify for the final round of the championship which will hold on Saturday.
She said 18 holes will be played over the three days of the championship.
According to her, participants and winners will get trophies and gifts at the end of the championship.
