Health officers seek collaboration with NCDC to tackle Cholera, other diseases

Over 1,000 Nigerians in at least 23 states have died of Cholera and other related diseases.

Environmental health officers have met with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on how to prevent the spread of Cholera and other preventable diseases in the country.

The Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON) in a statement in Abuja on Friday, said the visit to NCDC was to seek the assistance of the organization to establish an environmental health and public health department to facilitate easy coordination.

Over 1,000 Nigerians in at least 23 states have died of Cholera and other related diseases.

The delegation was led to the meeting by the EHORECON Registrar, Dr. Baba Yakubu Mohammed, according to the statement signed by Kehinde Openibo, Head Public Affairs of the council.

The council further requested for the establishment of a laboratory “where water, air, food and soil can be analyzed at a good interval to identify the disease possession which would go a long way in addressing food borne diseases ravaging our society.”
