With Hassan Ahmed II’s passage, the shine on one of the brightest stars in our galaxy has been extinguished. He’s a man full of years and honor. The days when he bestrode shall remain indelible in our minds. He served his nation, so did he his community but most of all his people and humanity. Fourteen of this as Emir.

He was an administrator of record and renown, and history will at once give him a deserving place. It will remain an exercise of immense difficulty to surmise his career and life as he was a man of many parts. Posterity will see him in due light.

An eloquent and formidable statesman of outstanding credentials, little wonder he was awarded the Presidential National Productivity Order of Merit, NPOM, just as he earned the membership of the elite National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, mni, where he equally served with distinction.

He fascinated a many with his humility and sagacity but most of all, integrity.

One area of his unparalleled achievement and attainment was his stewardship as Director General of the Industrial Training Fund, ITF – a record eleven years. Here as elsewhere he radiated his personality amongst compatriots, discharging his duties with grit and grace.

All affairs he was involved in were conducted with fortitude, resourcefulness and dignity associated with his circumstance and status as a Prince and Patriot. Amir Hassan’s splendor of languages particularly Hausa and English had capacity to release energies.

He’s a Prince who reigned before he ruled with tact and finesse. He never allowed age or the associated challenges that come with age come between him and his obligations. A man of consequence and diction, he displayed instincts when challenged.

He understood very well that, ‘to lead is to serve’. And serve he did to the Final Call.

‘Hassan na Ali, Ali na Hassan’…Allah ya sa an je a sa’a.

May Allah forgive you and all those gone before us. Amin.
