Luke 4:16 “16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, AS HIS CUSTOM WAS, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.”

(WilliamsNT) “So He came to Nazareth where He had been brought up, and as His habit was on the Sabbath, He went to the synagogue and stood up to read.”

We are creatures of habit. We breathe regularly. Our hearts beat regularly. We eat regularly. We sleep regularly and wake up regularly.

We are sustained by the things we do regularly. You are not sustained by the special delicacy you take at the Chinese restaurant once in a while but by the food you eat daily-twice or thrice daily.

You don’t advance by the leap you make once but the small steps you take repeatedly.

Your habit will either make or break you depending on whether it is a bad or good habit.

Our Lord Jesus had positive habits. He went to the synagogue habitually. He prayed habitually. He gave to the poor habitually. A habit is a gift from God.

A habit is any action, conduct or behavior that you do over and over again. It may be a bad habit like smoking, or a good habit like brushing your teeth. This means anything you do twice becomes easier. It is God’s way of helping you succeed. That is why it is said, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.

Mike Murdock the SECRET OF YOUR SUCCESS is in your DAILY ROUTINE. Success is a daily event. Habit is a daily thing. Nothing will ever dominate your life unless it happens daily. Experts believe that when you do a specific thing repeatedly twenty-one consecutive days, it will become a lifetime habit for you. What you are doing today is creating a permanent you. Your daily habits are carving out an irreversible future. Are you heading toward what you really want? If you smoke three packs of cigarettes a day, what is the inevitable eventuality? Your habits are vehicles…taking you into a desirable or undesirable future. Where will your present habits take you in twelve months? In ten years? Where will you eventually be if you do not change the direction you are going? Will you require a tragedy to initiate a change?

Great men have great habits. Daily habits. That is what separates them from the masses. Men do not really decide their future. They merely decide their habits. Then their habits decide their future. Read biographies of champions. The secret of their success is always hidden in something they do DAILY.

15 Habits Of Kingdom Greats

  1. Kingdom greats Set Clear Goals. They determine their destination. Set clear goals of what you want to achieve. Aim at something specific if you want desired results. Document your goal and pursue it.
  2. Kingdom greats plan. They don’t just desire things or wish that things will happen. They plan. GOD FUNDS YOUR PLANS, NOT YOUR WISHES. God has nothing to direct if you have no plan. If you are going to succeed, you must know what you want to achieve (dream or vision), put up a detailed plan for achieving it.
  3. Kingdom greats execute their plans. It is not the decisions we make that advance us; it is the decision we manage well; the decisions we carry out! God funds your plans and assists your moves. It is easier to lift someone who is trying to lift himself.
  4. Kingdom greats use the services of experts. Remember, you are not wired to do everything well; so, get someone who can do what you can’t. Solomon reached out across the border to get experts and resources for the building of the temple. Moses used experts to build the tabernacle. Don’t attempt to do everything on your own; you are not that smart. You are either a DREAMER, PLANNER OR EXECUTOR. Pharaoh was a dreamer; he got Joseph an executor to plan and execute for him. He got the credit as a strong leader. Get others to complement your strength. Staff your weakness. Look for competent hands to do what you can’t do well.
  5. Kingdom greats hunt for information. Hosea 4:6; Proverbs 11:9b “9An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.” One idea can lead you to fortunes. Bill Gates had an idea of founding the first microcomputer software company. Great men and women read. Readers are Leaders. KNOWLEDGE COMMANDS EXPLOITS. Keep up with current events. Daily. Listen. Watch. Observe. Ask questions. Analyse what happens around you. Open your eyes. Become aware. Make it a habit. Get wisdom. Get illumination. Get understanding! The more light you have the easier it is for you to succeed. Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom. Wisdom made King Solomon wealthy; it will do the same for you.
  6. Kingdom greats spend time in the Word of God. Joshua 1:8 says, (This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.) Pick a time…preferably the morning. Call it your ‘Wisdom Hour.’ Read the Bible. Just meditate on the Word. His Word is life. His word creates faith. His Word will change the course of your life. His Word is wisdom 2Timothy 3:15, “15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise…”
  7. Kingdom greats set a specific prayer time. Cornelius was a man who prayed regularly. Daniel was a man of regular prayers. He prayed three times a day (Daniel 6:10). David prayed three times a day (Psalm 55:17) and praised God seven times daily (Psalm 119:164). Prayer is the seed for power. Much prayer, much power; little prayer, little power. Setting a specific prayer time is one of the great secrets in the lives of prayer champions and Kingdom greats. This special time of intimacy with God is rewarded publicly with great results (Matthew 6:6). Build your daily agenda around your specific prayer time. Morning is usually best. Psalm 5:3, “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.” Make it the priority of the day. You will be amazed at the power of keeping a daily appointment with God. You will avoid disappointment if you keep your daily appointment with God.
