Residents have been speaking up on the abduction of students and staff of Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State.

A resident, who spoke under anonymity, said despite the fact that a police post is not so far from the school, the bandits operated freely.

According to him, “The police station is just like two kilometers away from the school and the bandits operated for two hours in the school.”

The source lamented the dilapidation of the school’s structure which he said is not conducive for a day school not to talk of a boarding school.

He said aside from the perimeter fence falling off, the hostel and the entire school is in a sorry state.

Meanwhile, the Niger state House of Assembly has said it is in support of the decision of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello not to negotiate with kidnappers.

The speaker, Bawa Wase, made this known during plenary on Thursday.

He said though there are laws that criminalised kidnapping and their informants in the state, the house would work on how the law will be in full force to make all culprits face the full wrath of the law.
