Ajayi, said in an interview in Lagos that this was to enable Nigerian players at the annual international competitions to excel.
“The standard of this year’s championships would be very high, based on the quality of foreign players on ground and so only experienced players guided against complacency can go far.
“The foreign players present at the championship are skillful and ready to cart away the 80,000 dollars prize money at stake.
“So, Nigerian players should neither underrate nor be complacent for them to win laurels at the championships.
“I am not underrating our players because they are equally good and experienced, but I have to caution them against complacency which may rob them of excelling in the championships,’’ he said.
Ajayi, who is also the Technical Director, Lagos State Tennis Association, urged the players to concentrate and be determined to cause upsets at the competition.
He expressed happiness that more Nigerians were participating in this edition of the championship, saying it was an opportunity for them to display their talent.. (NAN)
