The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has commiserated with the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, as well as the people and government of Sokoto State on the recent killings of innocent people and destruction of property by bandits at the Goronyo Central Market in the state.

CAN expressed shock and disappointment over the attacks and the loss of many lives despite efforts by the government to stop the criminal elements.

CAN’s General Secretary, Barrister Joseph Daramola Bade, in a statement in Abuja yesterday, condemned the attacks and called on the security agencies to rise up in tackling the menace before it’s too late.

He lamented that while still counting the losses of lives and property at the Goronyo market, the criminals also attacked the Kaduna-Abuja train line.

He prayed God to console and comfort all the bereaved occasioned by these attacks and grant accelerated healing to the injured.
