The pioneer Executive Chairman of Gombe State Sports Commission, Malam Farouk Yarma has lauded the performance of the state owned basketball club, Gombe Bulls in the Savannah Conference playoff in Bauchi.
The coach Abdulrahman Mohammed tutored lads won all their matches in grand style to qualify for the final 8.
Reacting to the feat, the Gombe State Commissioner for Youth Empowerment said he is proud to be the brain behind the rebirth of the now dreaded Gombe Bulls.
He commended the team for defiling all the odds to justify the huge support from the government and people of the state.
“The amazing feat achieved by Gombe Bulls at the Savannah Conference playoffs of the Nigerian Basketball Premier League is gladdening and heart-warming.
“To comfortably win the playoffs is amazing, but to do so with a 100% record is incredible. Congratulations to them.
“The Bulls have made us proud by achieving this the incredible result. The technical crew under Coach Abdulrahman Mohammed, the entire players deserve commendation. The state government has done well to motivate the team,” he said.
Yarma therefore charged the players not to rest on their oars as they head into the final 8 saying consistency is key to success.
He also called on the state government to further motivate the team.
“As the Bulls go into the Final 8 challenge, they must know that consistency is key. And for them to be consistent, they need to be motivated further.
“As one who engineered the renaissance of Gombe Bulls, I am proud of this achievement and pray that they will do the state proud by bringing home the trophy at stake,” he noted.
