Gombe APC alleges plans by PDP to cause violence

In a letter dated January 26 signed by its acting secretary Umar Muhammad Saifudeen and addressed to the State Police Commissioner, the party alleged that the PDP has already acquired some vehicles and painted them in the APC logo to be used by the PDP thugs to cause violence so that the opposition will be blamed.
The letter, which was copied to the Commander of the 301 Army Artillery, the Director of State Security Services, the Inspector General of Police and the National Security Adviser, said in spite of the peace accord signed by the parties to have violent free elections, the PDP in Gombe is still determined to cause violence.
It said part of the plans was to restrict the movements of APC leaders until after the elections so that the PDP can rig the elections.
APC said the plan to arrest its leaders have been publically disclosed by some PDP leaders in the state at various campaign venues.
The party therefore called on the police not only to investigate but to also ensure that the plans were not carried out by the PDP to ensure peaceful elections in the state.
However, when contacted, PDP chairman in the state Shuaibu Baba Sabulu denied the allegations, saying there is nothing like that.
He said as PDP chairman in the state, if the party is planning anything, he should be in the know, adding that it is the APC that is known for trouble-making, while the PDP is known for peace.
