The African Bar Association (AFBA) yesterday commended Presidents Muhammed Buhari and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, chairperson of ECOWAS for their intervention in the post election standoff in the Gambian.

Briefing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, AFBA President Hannibal Uwaifo said the association believes in African solution to African problems that continues to define historical evolvement as a democracy and distinct continent.

He said that interventions in the past from outside the continent achieved very little but left long lasting disastrous consequences.

President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia has rejected the outcome of last week’s presidential election days after conceding defeat to opposition leader Adama Barrow.
