He said the security summit, convened and hosted by France president, Francois Hollande had its sights set on how to curb the possible spillover effect of the sect’s activities to the neighboring countries of Niger, Chad and Cameroon.
Niger Republic’s President, Mahamodou Issoufou, his Benin Republic counterpart, Boni Yayi, Chadian President, Idris Deby and the Cameroonian President, Paul Biya at the end of the meeting pledged to work together and fight the scourge of the insurgency in the sub-region.
Fogu, who spoke with BBC Hausa Radio yesterday, however described the meeting as timely as it tried to proffer solutions to contain the menace due to its obvious dangers to the countries bordering Nigeria.
“The summit is timely, at least it will help towards addressing the Boko Haram problem holistically, but not towards the rescue of our girls,” said Fogu.
“The problem is presently domiciled in Nigeria, but as time goes on, it could spill over to Niger and Cameroon.”
