He said in order to achieve the goal, the need to raise the nursery and transplant in the forest reserve cannot be compromised.
Speaking on essence of the World Mangrove Action Day, Njar said they purchased mangrove seed from individuals and raised them within the mangrove ecosystem of the state.
In order to promote the green economy, he said trees should be planted for carbon economy as the mangrove forest is rich in carbon.
According to him, the tropical high forest zone and carbon credit bring alternative livelihood to the mangrove forest dwellers that depend solely on the mangrove forest for their income, adding that the Cross River State Forestry Commission was working hard to ensure the conservation of many mangrove forest which is rich in biodiversity.
Njar said that Governor Liyel Imoke had helped on the need to boost and protect properties of mangrove forest.
He urged the communities to have a positive attitude towards the investment which would definitely help to improve the economy of the state, adding that the ecological restoration and forest reserve would not have been possible if the stakeholders did not invest energy and resources to enhance the potentials.
He urged the people to see how the mangrove forest can be managed and protected from unwanted destruction.
Mr. Njar also called on Cross Riverians to ensure that they plant a mangrove seed within their domain, especially those depending solely on mangrove investment, as a source of livelihood, stressing that the mangrove forest plays a vital role in every human, as it is rich in biodiversity and carbon.
