The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has cautioned the federal government on the non-payment of bridging claims to its members as agreed between the association and the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF).
The situation, IPMAN said, was a threat to their businesses which would lead to its members’ inability to continue supplying states with the required fuel which may result to scarcity.
This was disclosed by the IPMAN chairman in Kano State, Alhaji Bashir Ahmad Dan Malam, during a press briefing held at the association’s headquarters in Kano.
According to him, the PEF had not paid its members for about one and a half years and the money had accrued to about N7 billion.
He added that the hike in diesel had also worsened the situation in the transportation of fuel to various destinations.
The chairman further stated that, the federal government should hold the NNPC and PEF responsible should the nation face another round of fuel scarcity.
