A fertilizer company, Zenith Energy Enzymes, has launched a “Return to Farming” programme to attract young Nigerians into agriculture.
Launching the programme in Abuja, the managing director of the company Engr Edith E. Anekwe, said the initiative, when completed, will empower 8,000 youths from each state of the federation, including Abuja.
Anekwe said the programme is aimed at empowering youths through agricultural value chain in order to return them to farming in line with the policies of the current administration.
Under the programme, every youth is encouraged to register as a member of Return to Farming (RTF) club with a token to receive the starter pack, containing the various enzymes liquid fertilizer and an opportunity to access more funds if he brings 20 members to the club. She said once the participant and his 20 members complete registration, he or she will receive N120, 000 from the company which will serve as takeoff grant to start up a small farm.
Mrs. Anekwe added that the organization is also providing extension services to members of the club in order to monitor and assist the young farmers to ensure compliance with the best global practices.
