A female student, Lauretta Obakpolor, has been elected as the president of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), University of Benin (Uniben).
Six aspirants contested for the position of SUG president and Obakpolor, a 400 level student of Pharmacy, poled 2283 votes to defeat her closest rival, Victor Arigbe from Faculty of Education, who polled 1437 votes.
Other elected executive members include Vice President, Sonia Obasuyi, 200 level Economics and Statistics; Secretary General, Jatto Ovie, 300 level Medical Biochemistry; Attorney General, John Aigbogun, 300 level Law; Assistant Secretary General, Elliot Airhuoyuwa, 300 level Fine Art; Director of Finance, Glory Odu, 300 level Accounting; Director of Publicity, Kelechi Ikotu, 300 level International Studies and Diplomacy; Director of Welfare, Eugene Chukwu, 300 level International Studies and Diplomacy; Director of Sports, Michael Iroegbu, 300 level Human Kinetics; and Director of Socials, Precious Enokeran.
