The management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda University (IBBU), Lapai, Niger State, has said the recent increase in school fees was necessitated by high operational costs which is affecting the smooth running of the institution.

In an interview with Daily Trust on Sunday in Minna, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare, said the increment coming after five years was unavoidable.

He said because of the rising operational cost and its consequent effect on the smooth running of activities of the institution, stakeholders met and examined the funding profile and suggested the increase as one of the ways to enhancing the Internally Generated Revenue to fund its operations.

Our correspondent reports that the institution has maintained a uniformed fees for indigenes and non-indigenes.

New non-indigene students are to now pay N93, 000 from N52, 000 while indigenes will pay N52, 000. Returning students are expected to pay N27, 000 and N55, 000 for indigenes and non-indigenes respectively.
