The cassava project, to be carried out by Doma Educational Development Foundation is for Agyana community in Abaji Local Government Council while the class room project is for Pagada 2 in Gwagwalada Local Government Council all in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The grants were signed yesterday in Abuja between the Ambassador of Japan to Nigeria, Mr Ryuichi Shoji and Mr Kuzasuwat Peter, Executive Director, Love-N-Compassion for the school project and Dr Ishiyaku Mohammed, Centre Director, Doma Educational Development Foundation, for the cassava project.
Shoji said the cassava project is designed to increase productivity for members of the Millennium Farmers Association, which is the most staple food in Nigeria.
He said the project would involve a factory building and modern processing equipment under the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) technical consultation.
On the school project, the envoy said a block of six classrooms, 150 sets of desk and chairs, seven chairs and 15 tables for teachers, a block of 4 toilets and a borehole will be provided.
The ambassador pointed out that the project will encourage pupils to acquire knowledge indispensable for the preparation for their future.
