Alhaji Aji said this at the commencement of table payment of monthly allowances to 1,000 instructors of Tsangaya and Islamiyya schools in the state, after three months of stoppage. “Imparting Islamic knowledge is imperative. Scholars should be careful about the kind of ideology being transmitted to pupils under their care. Soon after this exercise, I am going to embark on visits to all Tsangaya and Islamiyya schools in the state to assess their conditions and make recommendations to the governor for interventions,” he said.
According to the commissioner, the total monthly disbursement for the 1,000 benefiting instructors stood at N3 million and plans were on to expand it to accommodate 5,000 instructors. The payment for February 2010 was aside three months arrears being owed the instructors by the Ministry, which the commissioner promised investigating because according to him, funds had been released to effect the payment of the arrears.
