The embattled Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Dr Tope Aluko, has accused the leadership of the party of betrayal for expelling him over alleged anti-party activities.
Aluko insisted that he remained the secretary of the party in the state despite the party’s pronouncement.
He dismissed the party’s claim that the Chief Idowu Falaye-led executive remained the party’s exco, adding that they lacked the constitutional and moral rights to either suspend or expel him and others from the party.
The PDP factional chairman, Mr Tunde Olatunde and four others, Aluko inclusive, were on Friday expelled by the PDP State Executive Committee over alleged complicity in anti-party activities.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti, Aluko, known to be Governor Ayodele Fayose’s close political ally, said his expulsion cannot stand and accused the PDP of breaching the constitution of the party.
“The PDP has engaged in act of betrayal. How can somebody who had used his strength and money to fight for a party be expelled from the party because he was fighting a just cause?
“Worse still was the fact that the expulsion came a day before my daughter’s wedding. This shows the level of wickedness of this people,” he said.
