The Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) has dismissed the report suggesting that its former national chairman, Malam Bashir Ibrahim, was removed over misappropriation of party funds.
A statement jointly signed by the PDM Caretaker Committee’s Interim Chairman, Hon Munir Garba Waziri and Interim Secretary Hon. Ifeanyi Egwe, said the decision was taken to re-organise the party.
“The attention of the caretaker committee members of the PDM has been drawn to the rumour circulating alleging that its former chairman, Malam Bashir Ibrahim, was removed from the party because he had squandered billions of naira belonging to the party.
“We dispute this allegation and inform the public that Mal. Bashir and the entire former members of the National Executive of the PDM were dissolved not because of any wrong doing but because the majority of the NEC members wanted reorganisation of the party and to move it forward,” the statement read.
