The controversial Embassies and Consular Missions Conference (ECMC) scheduled to hold today and tomorrow in Abeokuta, Ogun State has been postponed indefinitely.
Daily Trust had on Monday reported that the conference, organized by the Worldwide Economic Development Agency Limited (WEDAL), was generating controversy among retired and serving diplomats.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that it was not part of the conference.
The former envoys, under the auspices of Association of Retired Ambassadors of Nigeria, said WEDAL has no right to convene foreign ambassadors without the knowledge and participation of the ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The organizers said in an advertisement on a national daily yesterday that “the conference has been postponed until further notice.”
