Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has described the EndSARS protest as a wake-up call to all those in position of responsibility and the entire citizenry to have a new direction in handling the nation’s governance.

Fayemi, who is also the Chairman, Nigeria Governor’s Forum, NGF, noted that the protest is a collective reminder to act more decisively on how to improve the lot of the people.

In a broadcast to the people of Ekiti State yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, on the crisis so far, he noted that it is time for meaningful engagement with the youths.

Fayemi who said the curfew earlier imposed on the state  will last till Monday, 26 October, 2020 and end at 0600 hours, added that Muslims and Christians will be allowed to attend their worship on Friday and Sunday respectively.

According to him, “this painful action was taken in the best interest of the people to ensure that the crisis does not escalate since criminals enjoy mimicking violent occurrences in other places.”

He urged all the traditional institutions, religious bodies, politicians and community leaders to use the weekend to engage youths in their respective communities to give peace a chance.
