Osun gov, speaker preach religious tolerance

Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the Speaker of the

House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam have enjoined the people of the state to continue to live in peace and extend hands of fellowship

to their neighbours in the spirit of Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

In their separate Sallah messages, Aregbesola and Salam stressed the need for tolerance and understanding among the people.

Speaking through the Director of the Bureau of Communication and

Strategy, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, the governor admonished Muslims to

imbibe the salient lessons of Ramadan and emulation of the humility,

good neighbourliness, understanding and love exemplified by Prophet Muhammad.

The Speaker in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr.

Goke Butika, stressed that the teachings of the Quran on harmonious

relationship among all men and women should be upheld, while vices

should be avoided.

Work for the unity of this country – Tambuwal

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has urged all Nigerians to close ranks and work for the unity, stability and progress of the nation.

In a message to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-fitr Sallah celebration issued in Sokoto by his spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal also enjoined Muslims to use the opportunity of the end of Ramadan to offer prayers to God for peaceful co-existence among different ethno-religious groups.

“We must continue to live up to the tenets of our faith through acts of charity, peaceful coexistence, obedience to the injunctions of the Holy Qur’an and sacrifice,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.

Sallah: Oshiomhole urges Muslims to imbibe Ramadan lessons

The Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has urged Muslims to be guided by the lessons learnt during Ramadan as this will shape their lives in the path prescribed by Almighty Allah.

Oshiomhole said this in his Id-el-Fitr message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Peter Okhiria, saying the messages of love, perseverance, self-denial, almsgiving and others should be applied daily in total obedience to the injunctions of Allah.

“While I congratulate the Muslim faithful for the successful completion of the Ramadan, I urge them to sustain the spirit of godliness, charity, perseverance and spiritual intercession for the nation,’’ Oshiomhole said.

Gov Lalong, Hon Baba Usman urge prayers for nation

Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has called on Muslims to use the Eid-el-Fitri period to pray for the peace and unity of Nigeria, stressing that the Muslim Ummah must reflect on the significance of the religious obligations by putting to use spiritual lessons learnt during the 30-day Ramadan fast.

Lalong, in a statement made available by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Samuel Emmanuel Nanle, said the Plateau State Government had provided for the security of lives and properties of all during the celebration and beyond.

In his own Sallah message, the member representing Jos North-North in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Baba Hassan, called on Nigerians to use the period of Eid-el-Fitri for prayers, stressing that only God could salvage the country from its current economic crisis.

Baba Hassan who distributed 200 bags of rice to his constituents, said, “Nigeria and its leaders are desirous of fervent prayers, so we can overcome the current economic hardship.”

Amosun preaches against violence, corruption

As Muslims across the globe celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, has called on Muslims and indeed all Nigerians, to shun all forms of corruption and violence even after Ramadan.

“Let us not forget the values we embraced during the holy month,” Amosun said.

The governor, in a release signed by Adejuwon Soyinka, the Senior Special Assistant (Media), prayed for peace in all parts of Nigeria while urging Nigerians, irrespective of religious, political and ethnic differences, to come together and work for the prosperity and progress of the nation.

Ortom urges Muslims to maximize Ramadan benefits

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has enjoined Muslims to maximise the spiritual benefits derived from this year’s Ramadan as they join their brethren from all over the country to celebrate Eid-el-fitri.

Ortom called on the Muslims to reflect the attributes of the season which are love, peace and justice in their lives for the development of the state.

The governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, also charged the people to embrace dialogue in addressing matters affecting them and resist the temptation to take the law into their hands.

Sani Bello calls for more sacrifices

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has enjoined the Muslim Ummah to continue to live the life of sacrifice in line with the tenets of Ramadan.

He gave this charge yesterday in his Eid el-Fitr message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, to mark the end of this year’s Ramadan fasting, saying the situation in the country now called for more sacrifices on the part of the leaders and the led.

He called on all Niger people to be optimistic as the on-going economic meltdown would soon become history.

“For us to effectively weather the storm now, we as a people must be ready to make some sacrifices for a reward of better tomorrow,” he stated.

Wike, Masari felicitate with Muslims

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has felicitated with Muslims on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri.

Wike, in a Sallah goodwill message signed by his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, congratulated the Muslim faithful for the fasting period and its attendant benefits of purification, and called on all Nigerians to draw from the lessons of piety, love, justice, fairness, equity, and peaceful co-existence with others.

In his own message, Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari

Enjoined Muslims to pray fervently for peace and unity during this festive period.

In a statement signed by Senior Special Assistant, Abdu Labaran, Masari said, “As we are all aware of our country’s predicaments of insecurity, fallen economy, there is no doubt that the lessons of Ramadan are but the tonic the nation needs to get it out of its dire straits. We therefore have a responsibility, regardless of our religious beliefs, to take these lessons to heart.”

Embrace peace; ACF, Hon Okorie tell Niger Delta Avengers

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called on the Niger Delta Avengers and all militant groups to embrace the offer of dialogue by the Federal Government.

The forum in a Sallah message signed by its national publicity secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim, said in the spirit of Eid-el-Fitr celebration the Niger Delta Avengers should cease its destructive activities.ý

“Destroying oil pipelines and polluting the environment is not a solution to whatever perceived grievances,” the forum stated.

Taking a similar view, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions, Rep Linus Okorie, pleaded with the Niger Delta Avengers, the Boko Haram sect and other insurgent groups to use the peace

message of the Eid el-fitr to cease fire and return the country to a

state of calm.

Okorie, in his Eid el-fitr message, said Nigeria had been

tormented for years by different

militia groups, and urged the hostile groups to submit to dialogue.
