A member of the royal cabinet of Ezeugo of Effium community in Ohankwu local government area of Ebonyi state, Chief Obaji Egbe yesterday one person has been killed and three others missing from the community.
Chief Egbe who also serves as the personal secretary to the traditional ruler of Effium community said Mr. Friday Edeh, a 30-year-old man, was killed by yet to be ascertained persons while two secondary school students and a primary school pupil were missing. The three children were suspected to have been abducted on their way to church on Sunday.
Chief Egbe who spoke to Daily Trust, yesterday, linked the crisis to the only community forest reserve which was in 1926 handed over to the two major clans in Effium.
“Since then because we are the minority, they have continued to marginalize us, denying us what belongs to us, but I must thank the police for their efforts towards ensuring that normalcy return to the area. Since yesterday the police have been busy patrolling the entire community but many residents in the area are still living in fear,” he said.
A recent mayhem which heightened tension in the community was suspected to be reprisal attack by youth from Ezza extraction following the killing of one of their sons, Mr. Ndubuisi Nwali.
