Former Super Eagles forward, Barnabas Imenger has said the domestic league is blessed with quality players who can play for the Super Eagles in any competition.

Speaking to Daily Trust against the backdrop of Super Eagles recent outing in the ongoing CHAN competition in Rwanda, the General Manager of Lobi Stars of Makurdi said Eagles failed because Oliseh did not select the best legs in the league.

He said even before the commencement of the championship, he had expressed reservations over the players selected for the tournament and stated clearly that they would fail to impress.

According to him, for reasons best known to the coach, he left out some of the best legs in the league and the moment he saw that he knew it was going to be disaster for the Eagles in Rwanda.

Imenger, therefore, said the early exit of the Eagles in Rwanda did not come to him as a surprise because he wasn’t expecting anything different from the team.

"The early exit of Eagles in Rwanda did not come as a surprise to me. I saw it coming and I did not hide my feelings.

"When I said that the team was without the best players in the domestic league, some people opposed me. Today I am vindicated.

"No coach goes into a championship without his best players. I repeat the league can always feed The Eagles with good players, ".

The former BCC Lions and El-Kanemi Warriors hit man maintained that if Nigerian coaches stay away from match venues there is no way they would identify the good players that abound in the league.

"The way forward is for the coaches to attend league matches. Over dependence on recommendations from agents and players managers won’t take us anywhere.

"There is no manager or agent who will say his player is not good, "he said.
