Domestic flight operations witnessed a marginal decline of 500 flights in October with 5,291 flights operated by eight airlines. At least 5,700 flights operated in September 2019.

However, there was a marginal increase in the number of international flights with 1,296 operated compared to 1,228 flights operated in October.

The executive summary of international and domestic flight operations obtained exclusively by Daily Trust, showed that no fewer than 876,550 passengers were airlifted in October. This also showed a decline compared to 967,840 airlifted in October.

This comprises 436,684 inbound passengers and 439,866 outbound while 25 airlines airlifted 350,798 passengers who were airlifted on the international front.

These consist of 172,970 inbound passengers and 177,828 outbound.

According to the report, out of the 5,291 flights operated, 2,703 were delayed while 11 were cancelled by domestic airlines.

Eight domestic airlines operated within the period. They included Air Peace which had the highest number of flights and passengers; Arik Air, Aero Contractors, Overland Airways, Max Air, Dana Air, Azman Air and Ibom Air.

However, there were complaints over delayed/missing bags by international travelers. According to the report, 2,080 bags were delayed or missing. But most of the bags were later found by the ground handling companies.

Emirates Airlines had the highest number of passengers in October with 22,203 inbound and 23,867 outbound passengers followed by Ethiopian Airlines with 16,442 inbound passengers and 18,279 outbound.

British Airways airlifted 15,340 inbound and 14,713 outbound passengers; Lufthansa airlifted 13,628 inbound and 13,083 outbound passengers; Air Peace airlifted 5,242 inbound and 7,233 outbound passengers.
