In the first Chukka, Kabiru Bage puts Dogonyaro Farms Polo club ahead before Ibrahim Paki leveled up for the Abuja Polo Club.
Dogonyaro Farms Polo club captain, Muktar Adhama scored the second goal for his team in the second Chukka and followed it up with another in the third chukka before Paki reduced the deficit for his side.
However, the influential Adhama scored his third while Baje added his second in the fourth Chukka to end the game 5-2.
Speaking after the match, Captain of Dogonyaro Farms Polo club said his team was the better side.
“We are better than them. We didn’t want to push ourselves too much because we have a more difficult game on Thursday.”
“It was so easy for us because they didn’t play as a team and we have better horses. The game of polo is 95% horse power and 5% humans,” he noted.
On his part, captain of Abuja Polo Club, Paki who scored the two goals of his team said his players were new and will need time to gel.
“It’s a tough match because their handicap is above ours and most of the players we used now just played their first game.”
In the second game played yesterday, Terra E & P Polo Club of Kano defeated Lojia Farms of Kaduna 4 1/2 -3 in the Guards Brigade Trophy category.
Hostilities will continue today with matches in the Guards Brigade Trophy and Guards Challenge Cup categories.
