The management of Integrated Logistics Services, (Intels), has said that the illegal diversion of oil and gas-related cargoes was direct threat to the concession agreement entered into by investors and the federal government.
It explained that some concessionaire have continued to flout the directive in the seaport concession agreement.
Intels General Manager, (Operations), Chibuisi Onyebueke, while briefing the Board of Nigerian Ports Authority, (NPA), in a presentation, said that the private jetties are receiving and discharging cargoes from Ocean Going Vessel irrespective of a Presidential directive on enforcement of existing rules.
He explained that the diversion of cargoes brought about constant loss of revenue to NPA, and by extension to the Federal Government.
He said, “The illegal diversion of cargo to non-designated facilities is a direct threat to the Guaranteed Minimum Tonnage, (GMT), target as provided in the Seaport concession agreement.
The Chairman of NPA Board, Emmanuel Olajide Adesoye commended Intels development initiatives especially in the area of employment opportunities, community relations and economic development.
