The speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Monday Igbuya, has declared the Warri South 1 State Constituency seat vacant.
The speaker’s declaration sets in motion the process of a by-election following the death of the member representing the constituency, Mrs. Beatrice Omawumi Udoh, who was buried over the weekend.
Igbuya also yesterday informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the latest development in the House.
“This information is necessary to enable your commission act in line with the statutory provisions of conducting a by-election to fill the vacant seat,” the speaker said in the letter sent to the electoral empire.
